TOURISM SOLIDARITY

Solidarity tourism includes forms of "alternative" tourism that put the center of the travel and meeting the man who is part of a strategy of territorial development. The involvement of local people in the different phases of the tourism project, the respect for people, cultures and nature and a more equitable distribution of resources generated are the basis for this type of tourism.
This definition was developed in 2004 by a Steering Committee consisting of UNAT, tourism associations and solidarity of their partners.
Note also that sustainable development, intergenerational equity to (solidarity in time between generations) and intragénérationelle (solidarity in the area between the territories) is very close to the concept of responsible tourism whose inclusion in a North / South vision is now discussed.
The last International Forum on Solidarity Tourism was held in Bamako in 2008
